I just wrapped my first Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), and I’m still buzzing.
The market is bullish on the future of Roblox too – RBLX jumped 11% on the Monday morning following the keynote. Also, the players are continuing to show that they’re still highly engaged. Looking at Sensor Tower data, Roblox is the only US Publisher to make it on the list of Top 10 Mobile Games Publishers by IAP Revenue Growth in August 2026 and The Most Downloaded Mobile Game Worldwide in August 2026. All very strong signals for huge growth ahead!
If you’re building on Roblox, hiring in the Roblox ecosystem, or just tracking where the creator economy is headed, here’s what stuck with me from RDC 2026.
The Big Picture: Roblox Everywhere
The most significant announcement wasn’t a single feature. It was Roblox Everywhere, a fundamental change in how games reach players.
Creators will soon be able to publish their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and console, all while Roblox powers the technology and services underneath. This solves one of the platform’s oldest friction points: distribution. Right now, players have to download Roblox first. Soon, they can just download a game.
That’s not a feature. That’s infrastructure.
Paired with browser play (coming by end of 2026 via Chrome), this means a Roblox game can live anywhere—next to Fortnite on console, in the app store, in a browser tab. The barrier to entry collapses.
BUILD: AI Creation at Scale
The second piece that caught my attention was BUILD with AI, and the live demo was genuinely impressive.
Start with a text prompt on your phone. Describe the game you want to build. AI generates a playable prototype. Then jump into Studio on desktop for deeper work. Creators can already check analytics and add monetization from their phone—ads are coming soon.
Since the alpha launch in New Zealand, 71% of BUILD users had never opened Roblox Studio before. That’s the flywheel working: lower the barrier, expand the creator pool, more games, more players. And AI-powered scene generation is rolling out later this year, so a prompt + reference image gets you a full, functional layout to refine.
This is how you scale game creation. Not more tutorials. Not easier APIs. AI that gets out of the way.
Smaller Wins That Add Up
The UX improvements won’t make headlines, but they matter for retention:
Friends chat now follows you across games, so you can coordinate and move together without reloading.
Voice typing is live—type by talking while you’re in-game.
Emojis in chat (yes, really—these were missing).
Offline play is coming by mid-2027, so a subway ride or flight doesn’t interrupt your session.
Moments went live in the US during the keynote—short-form gameplay videos that let you jump straight into the game. It’s TikTok for Roblox, and it’s a discovery engine.
NPC Dynamic Behavior
NPC Dynamic Behavior ditches dialogue trees entirely. Describe what a character is like in text, and the AI handles dialogue and behavior based on player action. Plus, AI NPCs can playtest your game—deploy 100 of them to break your game for you.
One less thing for creators to hand-code. One more thing players notice when a game feels alive.
Creator Monetization Gets Real
The final piece: Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card.
Wallet is an account where creators get paid out every business day in real currency. No holding periods. No minimum payouts. Just earnings that move.
Card (launching 2027) connects to Wallet, so creators can spend their earnings directly, anywhere it’s accepted. No bank transfer required.
Roblox has paid creators $5 billion since 2013. In just the past 12 months, that’s $1.7 billion. These announcements signal the platform is serious about turning creators into sustainable businesses, not hobbyists.
The Bullish Case
Roblox’s product roadmap looks substantially different than it did a year ago. Distribution is no longer a bottleneck. Creation is no longer a technical lift. Monetization is no longer opaque.
I left RDC feeling lucky to be representing some of the best companies building in this ecosystem. The platform isn’t just evolving. It’s becoming a real operating system for gaming with serious AI infrastructure layer.
Building or hiring in the Roblox ecosystem? I’m working with some of the best companies in the space right now. Let’s talk about what’s next – the momentum is real and the talent pipeline is more important than ever.
